Testosterone Supplement

Supplement for men

The use of testosterone as a supplement to a diet is a double-edged sword. Testosterone, of course, is the natural drug in the body that is responsible for the development of male traits in that gender. Testosterone is also a drug that surges in men who are under significant stress or who are competing athletically. But overall, it is a good natural drug the body produces which is necessary for the health of all men.

Abuse

There is of course another side to the medal. Many athletes have been abusing additional testosterone as a supplement to enhance their ability to gain muscle weight and to make them more capable during competition. The plague of drug enhanced performances has been a trial for every sport there is from baseball to the Olympic Games and universally, athletes who are convicted of the use of steroids and testosterone forms of supplements are disqualified from winning because they are performing above natural limits.

Healthy usage

It is really too bad that the use of this kind of supplement has undergone such controversy to the extent that the use of testosterone has developed a negative stereotype. It is good to know that legitimate medical science has found valid uses for the introduction of testosterone on both male and female patients because it does have some positive medical potential to treat certain dread diseases.

Side effects

Without a doubt, the most hopeful use of testosterone treatments in elderly men and women has been in the prevention of Alzheimers disease. The Alzheimers disease has been considered one of the most dread diseases that plaques far too many of our elderly. The search for a cure – or prevention at least – of Alzheimers has been a focus of medical science for many years. Anyone who has had to watch a loved one decline due to this cruel disease will be glad for any treatment that can be of help to others in the future.

Useful hint

The final hint for scientists that testosterone could be helpful in preventing this and other difficulties related to aging is the noted decline in testosterone in the elderly which brought up the theory that by supplementing the patients testosterone levels, that gave the elderly patient a greater chance of fighting off the onset of Alzheimers. While the research is still ongoing, we can be glad that despite the controversies surrounding the use of testosterone as a supplement, medical science has shown several advantages if it comes to curing diseases.
